There is that moment in life when your breath stops, emotions overwhelm you and you think if this is reality, everyone experiences it at least once. Just such a moment happened recently when I’ve received from CEBEF a request to photograph the ceremonial opening of the 33rd BELEF! When you are in a career in a profession that you truly love, then such a query has significant value. It's a special pleasure when you work at your hometown festival! ❤️ This will be a very busy, but exciting and beautiful summer, full of notes and spoken words flying in the air, followed by fluttering steps - the enjoyment can begin. ☺️
This year's 33rd BELEF officially opened the Terazije theater musical Gypsies Are Flying into Heaven - the stage thundered! An incredible whirlwind rich of elements that build the magic of such a spectacle - a large cast, acting, emotions, movements, quick changes, costumes, lighting arrangements, scenography, unparalleled, all participate in building magic on stage.
The musical Gypsies Are Flying into Heaven provided the photographer's eye great inspiration for framing. The story of the musical flowed relentlessly and quickly, it can be seen absolutely in one breath. Its overall complexity prompted the determination of the direction for photography. Undoubtedly, emphasis had to be placed on micro scenes, that is, on each segment of the musical. This compositional approach to photographing the play places importance on its story itself, as well as on its flow, where every element of a certain scene has its place in the frame, each in its own role and group, thus building its integrity - because the scene thundered, it just couldn't be otherwise, right? ☺️
Despite the fact that it is a challenge to work with a large stage, a large cast, making sure to be as inconspicuous as possible, even when running during the applause in front of thousands of the audience in the great Blue Hall of the Sava Center, it is an indescribable happiness to photograph a performance and that of a favorite theater - dreams definitely come true! ☺️
And at the end, which should be the case at the beginning, let the photos speak for themselves, that's their role, let them convey the spirit of Lojko and Rada Zobar's story, which I believe will bring some new viewers, it's absolutely worth watching! ❤️
